Only 20-30% of patients are suitable candidates for surgical procedures in malignant mesothelioma, and chemotherapy and radiation therapy has met with limited success. However, many new treatments have been tried in the management of this disease, using various approaches. Some of these have proved more successful than others, and many are part of ongoing clinical trials.
