Coramsine is a drug that has been in preclinical trials testing its effectiveness and safety in the treatment of psoriasis, melanoma, and malignant mesothelioma. The company, Solbec, which conducted the trial, has announced that Coramsine was effective in a trial with mice. In this trial Coramsine both treated and prevented mesothelioma in the mouse model. Additionally, when used in combination with CpG, an immune triggering compound, Coramsine killed cancer cells and increased the ability of the body’s immune system in rejecting cancerous growths. In the mouse model the combination treatment of Coramsine and CpG resulted in a full remission of the mesothelioma. These results are a positive indication that Coramsine causes an immune response to cancer. The company is preparing to conduct human trials of the combination therapy.
