Preventing the spread of asbestos fibers from or the spread of asbestos within the workplace is a first step to maintaining a safe working environment. Change rooms should be furnished by employers, and well be maintained. Two storage facilities must be provided that can provide separate areas for street clothes for work clothes that have been exposed to exposed to asbestos. Showers must also be furnished so employees may shower at the end of their shift.
Equipment rooms must have obvious labeling for disposal of contaminated clothes or equipment.
Employees working with asbestos are required to wash hands and face prior to eating, drinking, or smoking. Furthermore, lunchroom areas are to have positive pressure, and a filtered air supply.
