Since 1982, at least 42 firms with asbestos liabilities have sought protection under Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. When a company declares Chapter 11 Bankruptcy it will attempt to reorganize. Management may continue to run daily business operations, though the bankruptcy court must approve all significant business decisions. Some Chapter 11 companies continue to trade during bankruptcy and others do not.
